Lincolnshire Chess Association AGM (19th Aug)

The Lincolnshire Chess Association AGM will take place at Church House in Louth on Sunday 9th September at 3pm. It will be preceded by the fixture meeting at 1:30pm. The agenda and the minutes of the last meeting are available to download. If anyone would like anything adding to the agenda, please can you let John Grasham know.

Simultaneous Display cancelled (6th Aug)

Due to a change in circumstances the simultaneous display by GM Keith Arkell on Sat 11th August has been cancelled.

Minor County Match: Surrey v Lincolnshire (15th Jul)

Lincolnshire reached the Minor Counties final for the third successive year but unfortunately they came up short and narrowly lost 9-7 to Surrey. Full Results

Alf Newman Memorial Quickplay 2018 (8th Jul)

Joe Kilshaw and Samuel Milson were joint winners of the quickplay with a score of 5/6. Full Results

Simultaneous Display by GM Keith Arkell (8th Jul)

There will be a Simultaneous Display by GM Keith Arkell on Sat 11th August at the Great Gonerby Social Club in Grantham. The event starts at 12 noon. Entry fee is £10 for adults and £5 for juniors. To book your place email the Grantham Club Secretary, Christopher Holt. Full Details

Lincolnshire County Championships (10th Jun)

The Lincolnshire County Championships will be held on 21-22 July at The Atrium in North Hykeham, Lincoln. There are 2 sections - Open and U150. Prizes are available for the top 3 places in each section plus grading prizes. An entry form is available to download.

Minor County Match: Lincolnshire v Devon (10th Jun)

The Lincolnshire team beat Devon 10-6 in the semi final. They are now through to their third successive Minor Counties final which will be against Surrey. Full Results

Minor County Match: Lincolnshire v Norfolk (13th May)

The minor team beat Norfolk by a score of 9½-6½ in the quarter final. They now progress to the semi final to face Devon. Full Results

Alf Newman Memorial Quickplay (13th May)

The Alf Newman Memorial Quickplay Chess Tournament will take place on Saturday 23rd June at The Woolpack Inn in Louth. The time limit is 25 minutes for each player to complete all their moves. A number of prizes are on offer. An entry form is available to download.

Minor County Match: Lincolnshire v Warwickshire (1st Apr)

Lincolnshire retain the Midlands County Team Championship with a 10-6 win against Warwickshire. The team now progress to the quarter finals in the national stages. Full Results

Blackpool Congress (18th Mar)

Samuel Milson (Louth) scored 3/5 in the open section. There were 2 lincs players in the minor section: Pawel Szutkowski (Spalding) scored 3½/5 and Bill Egan (Scunthorpe) scored 2/5.

Doncaster Congress (18th Mar)

Joe Kilshaw (Grimsby) came equal 3rd in the open section with a score of 3½/5 and won £33.34 in prize money. Samuel Milson (Louth) won a grading prize of £5 in the open section with a score of 3/5. U120 County Match: Derbyshire v Lincolnshire (11th Mar)

The U120 team had a convincing 7½-4½ win over Derbyshire and are now joint top on 6 points. Full Results

U140 County Match: Lincolnshire v Nottinghamshire (23rd Feb)

The U140 team lost 9-7 to Nottinghamshire in their final match of the season. Although the team weren't able to win any of their matches this season there was never more than a couple of points between the scores. Full Results

U120 County Match: Staffordshire v Lincolnshire (4th Feb)

Lincolnshire narrowly lost to Staffordshire by a score of 6½-5½. Full Results

Nottingham Rapidplay (3rd Feb)

Peter Damms (Louth) won the intermediate section with a score of 5½/6 and received £100 prize money. Here are the results for all the Lincs players who took part in the competition:

U120 County Match: Warwickshire v Lincolnshire (23th Jan)

Lincolnshire had a convincing win against the current leaders Warwickshire by a score of 7½-4½. They are now equal second on 4 points. Full Results

Minor County Match: Nottinghamshire v Lincolnshire (21st Jan)

The minor team had to come from behind to narrowly beat Nottinghamshire by a score of 8½-7½. This makes it 3 wins out of 3 with 1 game left to play. The win also ensures qualification for the national stages. Full Results

Midland Open Rapid & Blitz (7th Jan)

The Midland Open Rapid & Blitz will be held on 17-18 February at Holiday Inn Birmingham Walsall, 20 Wolverhampton Road, Walsall, WS2 0BS. There will be four 9-round Rapid sections and a 9-round Blitz tournament. The prize fund for the tournament is £2,680.

U120 County Match: Lincolnshire v Worcestershire (7th Jan)

The U120 team narrowly beat Worcestershire by a score of 6½-5½. They are currently equal second with 4 matches left to play. Full Results

U140 County Match: Derbyshire v Lincolnshire (10th Dec)

The U140 team had another close match, this time against Derbyshire and once again they were on the losing side of an 8½-7½ score line. Full Results

Minor County Match: Lincolnshire v Worcestershire (20th Nov)

The minor team had a convincing victory against Worcestershire by a score of 11½-4½. They are currently top of the table with 2 wins out of 2. Full Results

Challenge Match (17th Nov)

Lincolnshire recently played a challenge match in Hull against a team representing East Yorkshire / Hull & District. They won the match 7-6. Full Results

U140 County Match: Lincolnshire v Worcestershire (12th Nov)

The U140 team narrowly lost to Worcestershire by a score of 8½-7½. The team will hope to pick up points in their other 2 matches if they want to progress to the knockout stages. Full Results

Minor County Match: Leicestershire v Lincolnshire (29th Oct)

The minor team beat Leicestershire by a score of 9.5-6.5 in their opening match of the season. Full Results

George Renison Memorial Jamboree (20th Aug)

The George Renison Memorial Jamboree with take place at Age UK in Scunthorpe on Saturday 7th October. The jamboree is for teams of four players. Four rounds will be played and the winner will be awarded the George Renison Shield. Entries must be received by Saturday 23rd September. A poster is available to download with further details.

The proposed changes to the Lincs League rules are in regard to the postponement of fixtures. Please contact John Grasham if there is anything you would like to add to the agenda.

Lincolnshire County Championships (20th Aug)

The 2017 County Champion is Chris Dorrington (Grantham) with a score of 4½/5. This the 4th time he has won the title. Full Results
